Jam Jars
A house full at the moment but filling them is taking a lot longer. I have managed a couple of jars of Spiced Bramble Jelly from the lb's and lb's of Blackberry that we picked around the village. The adding of mixed spice was something I found in an old book and it certainly gives the finised preserve a lovely 'mulled' taste but there is a powdery element that remains. It wouldn't be noticeable so much in a jam (with seeds and all)so next time I think I will mix with a little water and strain before adding.
I also have used a donated marrow for a rather pleasant Chutney and I have a stack of other stuff, Runner Beans, Green Tomatoes, Courgettes etc.. which will become a Picalli eventually as soon as I can find a stockist of Mustard Powder which is proving rather difficult............
